4:NIZAMI STREET


Nizami street is one of the main streets in Baku. Locals love to do shopping in fancy and glamorous brand shops, have dinner in fast food or local/international cuisine restaurant located in Nizami street, finally just walk. And during this walking time take photos. There are quite a lot things that can attract everyone. If you are in Baku, most probably you will pass from this street. The most common name of Nizami street among locals is Torgovaya, which means Trade in Russian. The street was named as this during Russian Empire time. The service in the shops and restaurants in this street is higher than in other parts of Baku as well.

6:MAIDEN TOWER


The Maiden Tower (Azerbaijani: Qız Qalası) is a 12th-century monument in the Old City, Baku, Azerbaijan. Along with the Shirvanshahs' Palace, dated to the 15th century, it forms a group of historic monuments listed in 2001 under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments as cultural property, Category III. It is one of Azerbaijan's most distinctive national emblems, and is thus featured on Azeri currency notes and official letterheads.

7:PALACE OF SHIRVANSHAHS


The Palace of the Shirvanshahs is a 15th-century palace built by the Shirvanshahs and described by UNESCO as "one of the pearls of Azerbaijan's architecture". It is located in the Inner City of Baku, Azerbaijan and, together with the Maiden Tower, forms an ensemble of historic monuments inscribed under the UNESCO World Heritage List of Historical Monuments. The palace complex was declared a museum-preserve and taken under the protection of the state. In 2000, this ensemble, along with the fortified walls of the historic part of the city and the Maiden Tower, was included in the UNESCO World Heritage.

10:CARPET MUSEUM


The Museum is a treasury of Azerbaijani national culture. It demonstrated carpets in close connection with other kinds of traditional handicrafts of Azerbaijan. The Azerbaijan Carpet Museum was created in 1967. The museum’s new home was built within the National Seaside Park by decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, signed in 2007. and was designed based on the plans of the Austrian architect, Franz Yants. It opened its doors in 2014. Today, the museum, an example of modern Baku architecture, functions not only as a storehouse for art and carpets, but also as a center for research in the field of carpet weaving and a place to exhibit the high level skills of our people

11:FERRIS WHEEL


The new Baku Eye is one of the most favorite entertainments of the local residents. Its height reaches 60 meters and you can find it at the part of boulevard close to the National Flag Square. The wheel was built by the Dutch company Dutch Wheels. It was opened on 10 March 2014 by the Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev, and opened to the public two days later. The wheel is 60 metres (200 ft) tall and has 30 cabins, each holding eight people. It makes a complete turn in 30 to 40 minutes

12:FLAG SQUARE


Flag Square is a symbol of national pride and one of the iconic landmarks of Azerbaijan’s capital. Located on the Caspian Sea waterfront, the square was inaugurated in 2010 and once held the world record for the tallest flagpole, standing at an impressive 162 meters. The massive Azerbaijani flag displayed at the square measures 70 by 35 meters, representing the country’s independence and unity. Baku Zoological Park, established in 1928, is the oldest zoo in Azerbaijan and a beloved destination for nature and wildlife enthusiasts. 14:ICE SKATING PARK

15:HEYDAR ALIYEV CULTURAL CENTER


The iconic Heydar Aliyev Centre was designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid and is famous for its distinctive flowing, curved style that eschews sharp angles. As a brilliant piece of post-modern architecture, the building’s shape is an eternal cycle, connecting the past with the present. The building houses a conference hall, gallery halls, museums and more and seeks to unite people of diverse backgrounds in a place of shared ideas. The building won the London Design Museum award in 2014.

16:RAMANA CASTLE


Ramana Tower is a tower located in Ramana village of Baku. Tower height is 15 meters. Exact date of construction of the tower, which is built in white stone, is not known. It is believed that the tower was built with the purpose of defense and used as a castle during the reign of Shirvanshahs’. Unlike Mardakan Castle, a natural position of Ramana Castle is different – is on the rocks. The strong walls of the tower are supposedly natural continuation of rocky slopes. There is an arch in the east wall of the tower.

17:MUD VOLCANO


Azerbaijan or as it is called here the Land of Fire has the highest number of mud volcanoes in the world. Some 350 out of over 1,000 mud volcanoes in the world are located here. About 200 eruptions have occurred in 50 volcanoes in the territory of Azerbaijani Republic since 1810. Eruption of mud volcanoes is accompanied by strong explosions and underground rumbling. There are more than 140 submarine volcanoes in the Caspian Sea. Eight islands in the Baku Archipelago are mud volcanoes by origination.

18:GOBUSTAN


The Gobustan Preserve, under an hour's drive from Baku (60 km) in eastern Azerbaijan, is home to over 6,000 ancient petroglyphs, the oldest of which are thought to date back some 40,000 years. Scenes depict people, animals, dancing and hunting rituals, battle scenes and camel caravans, and form an unparalleled insight into life in this region in pre-historic times. Here you can also discover the 'gaval dash' musical stone that gives off a tambourine sound when tapped rhythmically with smaller stones, as well as an inscription left by a Roman legion in the 1st century AD. All of this and more is neatly unravelled and explained at the excellent on-site museum.

19:ATASHGAG TEMPLE


The temple of fire worshippers Ateshgah, located on the Absheron peninsula on the outskirts of Surakhani village, 30 km from the centre of Baku, was revered in different times by Zoroastrians, Hindus and Sikhs. The current constructions of the temple date back to the XVII century. As a result of excavations, far more ancient artifacts were discovered here. The pentagonal complex has an open courtyard with temple-altar in the center which was the place of pilgrimage for worshippers. By the decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ateshgah was declared a State historical-architectural reserve. This open-air museum has been recently restored. Different workshops and souvenir galleries are located here now. 30 km from Baku
